HP Photosmart Premium WiFi Printer

When HP says that their new Premium Photosmart printer is an all-in-one machine, they are are not kidding. The printer is a copier, printer, fax, scanner, and it is WiFi enabled. You don't even need a computer to print pictures; you can take them off of a memory card directly, but that is not new. Thanks to the HP SDK and premium widgets, you can do a whole lot of printing without the use of a computer.

The HP Touchsmart Premium Printer with Touchsmart Web is the combination of a touchscreen interface (it essentially looks like an iPhone), and an all-in-one. The interface allows the user to browse various widgets, enter text, and navigate a limited web space in order to print information directly from the computer. Currently, widgets include tools from USA Today to get news, Google to get maps and email, SnapFish for photos, and Fandango for movie tickets. The widgets allow direct communication to the website, so that a user doesn't have to bother with a computer. For some, I see this as useful. For the vast majority of tech-savvy computer users, I think this would slow you down.

A well equipped WiFi enabled all-in-one runs about $200. The Touchsmart Premium rings up at $400, and that is the killer for me. I can not justify spending a $200 premium to shave a few minutes off of my movie printing. If you are rich, or computer-phobic, it might be for you. But if you are computer-phobic, you probably don't need to check your email or print your online movie tickets.

Ever since buses have been used as a way for public transport they have helped people to travel to and fro cheaply. In poorer countries these buses are the only way people can travel. In richer countries tourists can ply on fixed routes rather than travel in expensive private cars or taxis. There are private and government owned vehicles and can carry up to fifty passengers in full load. Ever since this system was introduced nearly two centuries ago, there have been improvements too. They are now more passenger-friendly and give smooth rides. Buses are such an integral part of city transport that many cities have dedicated bus lanes or bus ways which stop on various routes. Then they do not interfere with the normal vehicular traffic. This is a boon during peak hours in any city in the world. In public bus transport service, routes are fixed by the government like itinerary, stops, etc. In the case of private buses, individuals run the show. So the passenger has the freedom of planning and has flexibility. Most of the bus services offer secured luggage and device storage. New models consume less fuel and have lower maintenance cost which will help the service sectors to reduce operating costs and fare prices.

Joey Roth"s Ceramic Speakers will surely blow you away with their looks, if not with their music, considering that these low powered speakers are made to design perfection using porcelain, cork and birch wood. Yes you CAN! (Wear) Black Lipcolor....

I know you"ve seen them on the fashion runways and in fashion magazine editorials - but have you, like me, been thinking "How on earth could I actually wear a black lip color in my real life?"

Well, I"ve discovered three fantastic lip products that give different types of black effects - and great trick to making them work in real life!
The first black shade I"ve fallen in love with is Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Piha Black. I love that it"s thick in texture in the tube, but it"s very sheer and really gives a hint of black tone with the perfect amount of shimmer. It"s a buildable gloss that doesn"t get stickier as more is applied, which is great. It"s super rich, smooth and silky like all the Color Fever glosses. There are no undertones like blue or brown, so this really can work on all skintones and with a variety of lip pigmentations.
The formula is rich and moisturizing and the staying power is very nice for a gloss. The trick I discovered for really making this work is to apply a layer of rich red, plum or wine lipstick first (but it was also fun to play with pinks and red/brown shades too!), and then a layer of the Piha Black. What happens is that the Piha deepens the color and adds more dimension to it. This is a fantastic effect for a big night out or a night of partying!

When to courier or mail wedding invitations

Only a young runaway bridal couple can dare to call their parents on the cell phone to say that they are tying the knot and they are being invited to bless them, please! Easy telecommunications have made it effortless, even, for a daughter to send a text message to her dad to say that he is invited to join the reception on the beach! But such weddings are far and few. Young people still opt for the traditional route which has kept the institution of marriage alive. Having parents involved, getting them to make wedding invitations adds to the hype and excitement before the event. When a request is sent to people, it is an official announcement, a joint calling card. How does one reach out to everyone and let them know about the matrimonial alliance. With the availability of speed post and couriers, personal presence is unnecessary. Everyone can know simultaneously about the happy occasion.

Is the wedding date closer or has it been announced suddenly? Invites have to meet deadlines? Or is the distance between the places longer? Is the relationship cool enough for the snail mail? Many considerations have to be taken place. Some communities are close and friends are known to the bride and groom too. So they get invitations from both sides. Kids stuff

The wonderful autumn tradition of caramel apples brings out the kid in all of us. After all, who hasn"t sunk their teeth into a sticky, gooey, messy caramel apple at least once in their life?

I created the following recipe years ago for Gardening Life magazine and it"s still a favourite I pull out and use once every autumn, usually right after Oliver and I get back from Pine Orchard Farms where we pick apples every year.

Caramel Apples

6 unwaxed small granny smith, royal gala, Macintosh or other apples
Popsicle or lolli sticks
1 cup (250 mL) each granulated sugar and light brown sugar
3/4 cup (175 mL) 35 % whipping cream
1/4 cup (60 mL) corn syrup
2 tbsp (30 mL) butter
pinch salt
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
Chopped nuts such as pecans, almonds or peanuts, chocolate sprinkles, etc

Polish the clean apples with a clean, dry dishtowel until completely dry and smooth. Insert a popsicle or candy stick into the stem end of each apple. Place a parchment lined baking pan in the refrigerator.

In a medium, deep, dry saucepan combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, whipping cream, butter, corn syrup and salt. Place pan over medium heat and stir often until sugar is dissolved and caramel is bubbling. If necessary, brush down the sides of the pan once or twice with water to dissolve any sugar crystals clinging to the sides.

Place a candy thermometer into the saucepan and increase the heat to medium-high. Boil caramel, without stirring, until the temperature reaches 240 F (115 C).

Remove the pan from the heat. Shielding hands with oven mitts, stir in vanilla. Let caramel stand with the thermometer in the mixture until the temperature falls to 200 F (100 C), from 5 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, remove the baking sheet from the fridge. Place over a baking pan filled with ice cubes.

Dip and slowly turn the apples in caramel until coated all over. Transfer to the chilled baking sheet. Let stand while you dip remaining apples. Fold any caramel that pools under the apples. Dip coated apples into chopped nuts or candy sprinkles, pressing the garnished lightly into the bottom and up the sides of the apples; chill until set. Makes 6 servings.
